Star Fox is crossing over into an Ubisoft game. Ubisoft announced at E3 2018 that Star Fox will appear in the toys-to-life game Starlink: Battle for Atlas. Not everyone will get to experience the Star Fox collaboration however, as it'll only be available for the Nintendo Switch version of the game.

Starlink's release date is set for October 16 for Switch, as well as Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Using the Snowdrop Engine (The Division), Battle for Atlas uses a completely modular spaceship toy that attaches to your game controller. You can mix and match different items like ship parts (wings and weapons and more), and you can also add different "Pilot" characters. When you swap out a part or a pilot, this is displayed on the screen instantly.

Now Playing: Starlink: Battle For Atlas - Official Star Fox Trailer | E3 2018

In terms of gameplay, Atlas is a space dogfighting game that takes place in a huge open world. You can check out some new footage in the Star Fox announcement trailer embedded above.

"We are excited to give players a deeper look at Starlink: Battle for Atlas, the first all-new property from Ubisoft Toronto," said the studio's creative director, Laurent Malville. "Starlink is a project born from the passion of our collective team, and the opportunity to work directly with Nintendo to bring Star Fox to our universe is a dream come true. We believe the Atlas open star system is a perfect playground for Fox to explore and hope players will too."

This is not the first partnership between Ubisoft and Nintendo. They worked together on the critically acclaimed Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, which is getting new Donkey Kong DLC soon.

A Starter Pack edition of Starlink will be available at launch that comes with a copy of the game, a starship, a pilot, a "variety" of weapons, a controller mount, and a poster. It's priced at $75 and is available for pre-order now.
