Square's Latest Hits Japan

It's Mech vs. Mech in Front Mission 2 from Square.

Comments

SquareSoft's eagerly anticipated Front Mission 2 was released in Japan this week. The title is an isometric-view mech game that features enormous city landscapes and strategically placed giant mech robots.

The player controls a squad of mechs in turn-based combat upon a flat plane. When a mech meets up with another mech or vehicle in combat, the perspective shifts into 3D polygonal combat mode. Before diving in though, the player chooses from a variety of weapons (such as machine guns, shot guns, or rods, which are sort of like huge metallic baseball bats), evade options, and then lets the conflict run its course. Damage takes over various parts of the mech's body including the torso, arms, and legs. Once the body is destroyed, the mech is, of course, down.

For more information, stay tuned for an import review of the game on VGS.
