Square has updated the site for its upcoming PlayStation 2 release Hanjuku Hero vs. 3D. The game is the third installment in the Hanjuku Hero series, a comedic war simulation series previously released on Nintendo's Famicom and Super Famicom in Japan. In Hanjuku Hero vs. 3D, the main character is the incompetent young lord of the Almamoon kingdom, who saved his country in the previous two games. This time, the main character and his kingdom, both of which are drawn in 2D, get swallowed into an alternate 3D world. Together with an advising minister named Sebastian and a cursed woman known only as "Me," the main character must fight off the polygonal enemies he encounters.

For the first time in the series, players will engage in combat in 3D, which will require them to fight more strategically than in the previous releases. The series' summon monsters, which hatch from eggs, as well as the obscure items like the 100-ton weight that players can drop on the enemy's army, return in the game. Hanjuku Hero vs. 3D is likely to parody elements in other Square games, as the series has been known to do so in the past. The game will also make some additions to the series, such as anime-like cinema sequences produced by Tatsunoko Productions (Nurse Witch Komugi, Gacchaman, Tekkaman Blade).

The release date and price for Hanjuku Hero vs. 3D have yet to be announced.
