On Tuesday, Square launched its official Japanese Web site for the upcoming online network RPG Final Fantasy XI. The site currently showcases the three selectable races: the hume (human), the elvern (elf), and the tartar (hobbit-like). Each race dwells in its own kingdom--Bastuque, Sandoria, and Windus, respectively. Users in Japan can currently apply to become one of the limited number of beta testers for the game. The sign-up begins next month in Japan.

Final Fantasy XI is scheduled for release on the PlayStation 2 and the PC sometime in spring 2002 in Japan. No release information has been disclosed for the rest of the markets.
