Square Enix USA, Inc. will now be known as Square Enix, Inc. announced Japanese parent organization Square Enix Co., Ltd. today. The name change is part of a reorganization of the company's American branch, which includes several executive appointments and a change to the official Web site.

Yoichi Wada, president of Square Enix Co., Ltd., will also serve as CEO of the new US subsidiary. Co-COOs Jun Iwasaki and Ichiro Otobe will head the video game business and mobile/network entertainment business, respectively. The official US Web site also changed its URL to www.square-enix.com.

"With this reorganization, Square Enix is now even more prepared to realize its vision of 'Polymorphic' content by expanding into new network-based entertainment," said Wada. "Square Enix, Inc. looks forward to taking content in North America to a whole new level."

The US branch of Square Enix operates offices in Los Angeles and Seattle and handles development, localization, marketing, and publishing of Square Enix titles in North America. Square Enix, Inc. also operates UIEvolution, a software developer for wireless applications, out of its Seattle offices. No layoffs were announced as part of the recent changes.

The move is just one of several recent reorganizations and executive appointments declared from Square Enix's Tokyo headquarters. Keiji Honda, former president of Enix Corporation and executive vice president of Square Enix Co., Ltd., jumped from the Tokyo offices to Shanghai, China to lead the business there. Jun Yamamoto, former president and CEO of Atlus USA, was appointed president and CEO at Square Enix Ltd., heading up European operations.
