Square Enix had gone teaser-site crazy the past few months, using countdown timers to usher in the announcements first of Front Mission Evolved and then Four Warriors of Light: Final Fantasy Gaiden. Now, nearly a month on to the day from its last teaser, Square Enix has launched yet one more teaser on its Japanese Web site presaging the announcement of a new game.

The site offers few clues as to what the game in question may be. The heavily obscured and darkened images appear to be a palimpsest, obscuring what could possibly be independent images of a fish head, leathery batwings, and a headless man in a long cloak wielding a walking stick.
The countdown timer is set to expire on Friday, August 7, at 12:00 p.m. PDT, at which point more information on the game may be revealed.
