Square Enix Injects Colour into Batman: Arkham Knight Redesign Figure

More like the Bling Knight.

As it is wont to do, Square Enix has designed a limited colour Batman: Arkham Knight figure as part of its Play Arts Kai line.

According to Square Enix's store listing the figure, which you can see in the screenshot gallery below, is designed to "match the beautiful and highly detailed game graphics."

"We placed heavy emphasis on bringing out the fine details and mechanical look when creating the sculpt, resulting in a finish that gives the realistic impression of a human being, Bruce Wayne, wearing the suit."

Talking about the figures paintwork, the listing points out the metallic sheen effect, as well as the finer details such as the scuff marks and weathering that provide the battle-worn effect.

The coloured version of the Batman Arkham Knights Play Arts Kai figure is a San Diego Comic-Con 2015 exclusive. Unlike on other versions of the figure, its creators have "highlighted the fine details with metallic paintwork in bright blue and gold."

It also has a cape that "more realistically replicates the movement of cloth," interchangeable hands with different textures, and the ability to add weapon pieces when posing.

The figure will be sold for $99.99, with a max order quantity of three. If you've got money burning a hole in your pocket and are planning on grabbing this, please note that SDCC exclusive pre-orders at the Square Enix online store are shipped to the address and cannot be picked up at SDCC.

We're not too sure about the blue and gold. What do you think of the figure? Let us know in the comments below.

You may know Square Enix as that Japanese company behind role-playing games with an abundance of zippers and spikey hair, but it also has rather large prolific merchandising division producing high-quality figures, many of which are redesigned versions of popular fictional characters.

If you haven't seen them already we recommend checking out the following redesigns:

I think Rocksteady's envisioning of Batman is the pinnacle in design. They capture not only characters, but environments exceptionally well.

People don't understand that Batman had blue, grey and gold for much longer of his existence than plain black.

If you only like Batman if he was black, you are just like a 21st century kid who loves the Michael Bay Transformers because they look 'cool' and hate the classic Transformers cartoons because they are 'lame'.

Batman wearing heavy black armour is the 'edgy' over designed generic 'crap' that are hated by people who are criticising SquareEnix designs.

I for one love both the classic and modern Batman designs, just no Azrael or Bane Batmans.

@CA0001: "21st century kid who loves the Michael Bay Transformers because they look 'cool' and hate the classic Transformers cartoons because they are 'lame'."

Who is the one trying to be edgy here?

I like Transformers by MB and I think classic cartoons are lame. Not like Transformers even started from classic Cartoons. And I am not a 21th century kid.

@CA0001: I agree, but more than the completely black and the blue grey and gold designs i still prefer the grey black and yellow one from the animated series best, the ones with no blue on it. Also the one with just black and grey that had no yellow.

But yes this new trend of black futuristic crap leaves a lot to be desired.

@CA0001: Though to be fair. Look at the history of older comics. Older Comics had limited color palette because it was cheaper to print. Batmans cape wasnt MEANT to have the same color as Supermans suit, they just didnt desire to spend the money to differentiate the colors so they repeated alot in the comics(go look this up). While its true the Tim Burton Batman movie changed Batman to a much darker figure, it was also Dc's intent for Batman to be dark in the comics before that. After all he is the Dark Knight,

@CA0001: Exactly. Batman started out as grey, not black. It was the Burton design that made him black with the newer cowl design.

Basically all this "If Square Enix" did it stuff means that everything will be in generic Halo / Vanquish space marine armor.

Lol, it's almost like the GTA V "Ill-gotten Gains" DLC devs got their hands on it. Especially that golden grapple hook makes me think so.

@Thanatos2k: Yes, but Tetsuya Nomura doesn't publish the games, so Square Enix is the more appropriate reference.

Ugh... If you're going to write for a U.S. gaming news site, use correct spelling. It's "Color" not "Colour".

Too much color for a batman, should've at least been way darker. It also feels like it should've been purple not blue.. or just plain black with different levels to make the details pop up.

Instead of using money for this crap why now use it to create new IPs the amount of money they've earned from milking FF7, 9, 10 and X2 HD is enough to start to invest in new games
