Square Enix announces Dragon Quest Wii collection

I Have waiting 20 years for these but if do not put them PS I don't Care. They should have been on the PS for nearly 20 years by Now Just like Final Fantasy Series

I'm missing DQ II, and it would be great to be able to play them w/o having to break out the nes from storage.

I think it would be great to see this come to the US.

I can see not many people are happy about this, but personally? I am. We NEVER got the SF remakes of the trilogy and that disappoints me greatly, but now that we actually may have a chance to own them? That makes me happy and I will be MORE than happy to get this collection. This may be the first thing Square-Enix has done right in a long, long time.

Remember when Square made their own games and didn't remake them? Remember when they didn't have to remake Final Fantasy IV at least a million times? That being said, I hope it's released here.

Ooo, another RPG collection from Square-Enix... didn't see THAT comin'. -_- But yeah, can easily get 1-7 on my PSP, thanks. And, of course, own the very best in the series, VIII, on PS2.

@Hate_Squad - to be fair, 1-8 probably wouldn't all fit on a single Wii disc, since 8 alone was on a DVD. I definitely agree with your point, though.

@stuffgamer1 Did you even read the article? at least read the very last line of the article that said "AN ENGLISH LOCALIZED VERSION HAS YET TO BE OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED"

well if the collection included dragon quest 1-8 ,yes it would be great but who are we kidding ,there will release those games in 3-4 different collections

I'm so tired of seeing SquareEnix releasing these collections lately. It is no longer in the business of making great games. It's now just in business to make money with the least possible effort.

Seeing as this would be the first official release of the SNES versions outside of Japan, I'm all for this. Nintendo will probably have to take the localization just like they did with DQIX and VI, though.

So they're taking five games - which is really only three games - from twenty years ago (average) and throwing them on a single disc for $50-$60. All they have to do is make a menu to select one of the games. That's a one-man job, and it'll sell. From a marketing standpoint, it's great. From our standpoint, it's just ***ing lazy.

Well this will be great to see. This might be an opportunity for European gamers like myself to see where the franchise started.

As much as I love DQ/DW--DW1 being the first game I ever obsessed over--repackaging old titles without new contributions seems shameless.

Would be nice to see this - I and II are the only ones I haven't at least started in the series, and III is quite the game.

@chesed: They're not remakes, they're just ROMs of the Famicom and Super Famicom cartridges. Same idea, just a lot less effort on Square Enix's part. It'll probably be sold at a hyper-inflated price like the Super Mario Bros. 25th anniversary collection was.

I do hope this makes it to the US, but very unlikely.

Square making remakes? I guess there's a first for everything. ...
