Midway Games has today revealed that it will release the previously unannounced SpyHunter 2 this fall. The game, which is in development for all current console platforms, will feature a number of improvements over its predecessor, along with a mysterious new female agent character.

SpyHunter 2 will feature around 16 action-packed levels in total, set across four gigantic regions and incorporating end-of-mission boss battles. Players will once again assume the role of Alec Sects as he takes on the forces of global criminal terrorist group Nostra, and Midway is promising that the game will feature a strong storyline this time around.

In keeping with the game itself, the G-8155 Interceptor that players will be driving boasts some significant improvements over the vehicle in SpyHunter. In addition to having a customizable arsenal of weapons--which includes land mines, smokescreens, oil slicks, an auto-tracking turret, and an indestructible armored shield--the new vehicle can be transformed into a number of new forms including an off-road four-wheel-drive vehicle, an off-road motorcycle, and a snow ski. Players will also be aided with advice from Leonie 2.0, the Interceptor's onboard computer.
