Splatoon's Final Weapon Arrives Today
That brings us up to 74 weapons.
Later today, Splatoon will be getting yet another new weapon. This one is significant in that it'll be the last one added to the game.
The Custom Hydra Splatling, pictured above, will be available for use later today. A steady stream of new weapons have been introduced since the game's launch last May, though Nintendo confirmed on Twitter that it'll be the last one.
With this latest one, there will be a total of 74 weapons in the game, according to Nintendo. Three of those aren't freely available to everyone--there are a pair of weapons exclusive to Amiibo owners who complete a series of challenges, for instance--but that still adds up to a pretty big arsenal.
Like all the other weapons and maps released for Splatoon, the Custom Hydra Splatling will be free. Don't expect to see the game's limited map rotation expand to include more at one time, as co-director Yusuke Amano recently explained this setup is something "envisioned from the beginning of development."
