Blackkklansman director Spike Lee is getting a Funko Pop. Lee is the latest filmmaker to be turned into one of the hugely popular vinyl figures.

The Spike Lee Funko will be available in May and will retail at $11. If you're willing to wait until June, Walmart is selling preorders for $9. It's wearing the distinctive purple suit and hat that Lee wore to the 2019 Academy Awards, where Blackkklansman won the Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar. The Spike Funko also has knuckle rings displaying the words "Love" and "Hate,'' which is a reference to Lee's classic 1989 movie Do the Right Thing. It was announced as part of the company's Funko Fair 2021 event.

In a statement, Funko's brand and licensing senior manager Lauren Winarski said, "Creating a line of Pop! Directors is a wonderful way to show our appreciation and celebrate the brilliant minds behind the properties we all love. When you look at the impact of Spike Lee's films like Do the Right Thing and his status in pop culture, we are more than thrilled to have him join the collection."

The Hollywood Reporter states that Funko has been keen to create a Spike Lee figure for several years, and the director finally agreed last year. Other notable filmmakers who have been given their own figures include Alfred Hitchcock, Ava DuVernay, Guillermo del Toro, Patty Jenkins, Kevin Smith, Jason Blum, and James Wan.

Lee's most recent feature was Da 5 Bloods, which hit Netflix in June last year. GameSpot's review described it as a "thrilling action adventure" that "confronts uncomfortable truths about America's past." He also recently directed the highly acclaimed concert movie David Byrne's American Utopia for HBO.
