Spider-Man Will be Aged 15 in Marvel's Forthcoming Reboot

@camou504: Because he hasn't been mentioned in any of the prior MCU films. I'd much rather see a film about an older Spider Man, but, you know... continuity...

@spartanx169x: lol No, the vast majority of Comics are great because of the characters. Very rarey, and only for the most part in the recent 20 years, have Comic Book stories started to get any good.

Just because there is a lot of lore, doesn't mean that all of it is well written.

@spartanx169x: According to most databases, Spidey is under 6', between 5'10" or 5'11". He's never been built like a truck, usually around 165lbs; the appeal to his design is that his rather unassuming stature belies ridiculous proportionate strength--equivalent to that of a human sized spider :P But yes, I do agree with the story muddling going on in the movies. There's always so much going on in the plot, setting up for the next movies, that there is nothing worth while in the current action.

@BassMan: It's not really a reboot, more of a slight reimagining. I wouldn't want them to follow the lore from the Raimi or Webb movies anyway( especially after Spider-man 3 and ASM 2 respectively).

@BassMan: wouldn't call it a reboot exactly when they aren't doing an origins story. sounds more like a "re-cast"

@bdrtfm: The whole point of Spider-man was that Peter was driven to heroics by the death of his father figure. If that didn't happen then he'd probably fit your description.

@bdrtfm: Perhaps you have really sh*tty taste in friends? Keep in mind that the character Peter Parker was more or less orphaned as a child and his only relatives took him in. One of which he's directly responsible for the death of and that moment in his life weighs heavily on him because at that point he was acting selfishly. So to atone for that, he becomes a selfless hero even at that age. Ultimate universe was slightly different, but similar outcome.

@bdrtfm: Except this kid DID use his powers irresponsibly for a while when he first got them. He used them to acquire some degree of fame and money, and not for the short time period that the movies depict either. It wasn't until his uncle wound up being murdered in a situation that Parker could have stopped before it even got that far did he decide to be a hero. I'm pretty sure this tale is a well known one by now...

@bdrtfm: In Ultimate Spider-Man (comics) that was exactly what he did. He wasn't interested din fighting crime, he was to cool ...until a dick (whom he could have stopped easily) killed his uncle. Then he understood that with great power comes great responsibility and he couldn't be selfish any more.... a tough lesson to learn at 15... To be honest, when it comes to spider-man the ultimate spider-man comics (up until issue 90 or something) are pretty emotional and good. So yeah, I like to see a coming of age story...done proper.

@beuneus12: There's no shortage of other movies chief. Find something else.

@beuneus12: There will be at least 4 times as many cop movies or comedies as superhero movies this year, next year or any year to come. Marketing and coverage of superhero movies is at fever pitch but output isn't as high as people think.
