Spider-Man: Miles Morales Saves Can Transfer From PS4 To PS5

Though the remastered game needs to start over from scratch, Spider-Man: Miles Morales save data is compatible between the two systems.

There has been some confusion lately about which game saves will carry over when moving from PS4 to PS5 this holiday, but Insomniac Games has cleared the air on one particular title. If you start Spider-Man: Miles Morales on PS4, you will be able to keep playing where you let off on PS5.

Responding to a player's request on Twitter, Insomniac confirmed that you'll be able to transfer your save data on PS4 to the PS5. Because the game supports cross-generational upgrading for free, it's likely many players will do this if they can't find a PS5 right away.

The same is not true for Spider-Man: Remastered, which is coming to PS5 as part of the game's Ultimate Edition. It's an enhanced version of the 2018 PS4 game, but you'll need to start from scratch if you plan on playing on PS5. The same is true for Yakuza: Like a Dragon, though the Xbox Smart Delivery system means your save data will transfer from Xbox One to Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S.

Spider-Man: Remastered is also not planned for a standalone release. However, if you buy only Miles Morales and decide you want to get the remastered game later, you can purchase it as $20 DLC. This is the same price difference between the game's standard edition and Ultimate Edition, so you won't be missing out on any discounts.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales launches alongside the PS5 on November 12. It will be available on both PS4 and PS5 on the same day.
