Spider-Man: Miles Morales Buying Guide: Where To Purchase

Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a PS5 launch title, and if you want a remastered version of the first game, you can snag it with the Ultimate edition.

Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales released today alongside the PS5, making it one of Sony's biggest games of the year. Of course, Miles Morales also released on PS4 for those who aren't upgrading to PS5 just yet. And if you missed out on the first game or just want a remastered version of it on your next-gen console in just a couple of weeks, then you'll be happy to know that it's included with the Ultimate edition.

As the name suggests, the upcoming Spider-Man game follows the wall-crawling exploits of Miles Morales as he takes on the Tinkerer and their army of cyber-looking cronies. Sony and Marvel have also revealed a spectacular surprise: Miles Morales will feature a costume based on Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. The key feature? The costume comes with a perk that changes Miles' animation to match the movie's, making it look astounding in motion.

The PS5 launch game earned a 7/10 in GameSpot's Spider-Man: Miles Morales review. "It's a bit of a bummer to see Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales trip up at certain points, but thankfully, that doesn't happen often," wrote associate editor Jordan Ramée.

"The game wastes little time jumping you into Miles' story and rarely lets up on the brakes, packing the young wall crawler's first solo outing with more superpowers and radio chatter than the game needs. And yet, despite its frantic pace, Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a compelling open-world action game that helps highlight why Miles is so special: his culture. It's Miles' unique differences and earnest attempts at figuring out how to protect his community that make him into such a wonderful hero, not the mask he wears and superpowers he wields."

I got a question. I never had a PS4, but I made an account in advance for my PS5 digital. If I use that account online and preorder, will Spiderman be on my PS5 when I log in with that account?

@thiagolfcfan: It will show you 'own it', or previous purchases section, - once you log into the ps5 with your account. And you can just download it and install. If you mean will it be pre installed when get the digital - nah. But you should be up and running pretty fast.

Available for pre-order physically yes, possibly digitally from retailers sure, but digitally from PSN? Nope. Have 2 Digital PS5's coming and Sony has yet to add a PS5 section or any PS5 pre-orders to PSN and that's simply unacceptable. I'm sure they'll be made available closer to release date, but as recent as Monday we were told we could pre-order Demon's Souls Deluxe Edition on PSN....it's not there.

Why can't we already pre-order using the superior method? This should have been made available the minute console pre-orders went live.

@reznik00: I mean if your just buying digital, an hardware- what's the point of pre-ordering? If the PSN is down at launch so will the store.

You have to sign in - the amount of time to purchase and or goto the section - 'purchase history' is the same- and the download will of course be the same. So whether you pre-order or buy when you open the machine, does not matter. (unless they include a actual radioactive spider with each digital pre-order)

But some people love to preorder I guess, just comforts them like thumb sucking or a weighted blanket, or an emotional support yak. Anyways, to assure you, it will be there, everything will be okay. Just a little download.

@reznik00: Superior method? That shows how self entitled you are haha. Stop and think for a second. Even if you could pre-order the game now, it wouldn't do you much good. You'd still have to wait until you get the PS5 to download and install it. There's really no difference from pre-ordering now or getting it at launch

It's a little more than frustrating that I can't pre-order these directly from Sony. :/

Why buy these games for ps5 when you can just buy the ps4 versions which are cheaper giving you the free ps5 version by when the ps5 becomes truly worthy of a purchase in 2022.

@johnny0779: yea that was my plan also once I found out that Spider-Man: MM gives you a free upgrade to the PS5 edition if you own the PS4 one.

$50 for a game that's half the length of the previous Spider-Man? I'll wait until it's $20 or less.

@Herrick: $50? My son wishes that was the price in the UK. Here it's £52 (~$67) for preorder on several online retailers.

@kutraz: it's not a scaled down game and built from ground up for the ps5. The visuals looked phenomenal on the gameplay demo.

@pcps4xb:

What I meant was that it's a game that is running on a weaker console, so that implies a handicap for the PS5.I have no recollection of a cross-gen looking night and day different when comparing the two versions side by side. Not watch dogs, assassin creed, far cry, etc. It has never worked. You even have the Halo infinite fiasco as an example. The fact is that minimum specs matter, design-wise it has to be able to run on the weaker console. They can say all they want but there is no example of a cross-gen scenario were this was carried through successfully. Also, you got developers stating the same about what cross-gen and the series S handicap does to "next gen" game development.
