Spider-Man: Freshman Year Slings Onto Disney Plus In 2024 With Daredevil's Charlie Cox
The highly-anticipated animated Spider-Man series is heading to Disney Plus next year.
During a Marvel panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, we learned more about Disney+ show Spider-Man: Freshman Year, including its release window and some notable cast members--including Daredevil's Charlie Cox.
Jeff Trammell, who serves as head writer and executive producer, shared details during the Marvel Animation panel at Comic-Con, while Marvel Studios' head of visual development Ryan Meinerding showed off the new Spider-Man suit designed for the series. Freshman Year takes place before the events of Captain America: Civil War, where the MCU introduced Spider-Man.
During the panel, it was revealed that moderator and comedian Paul F. Tompkins will be playing a character in the series. There was also a second season announced, simply called Spider-Man: Sophomore Year. It's unsure how much the show will follow 616 canon, as slides were shown of Peter and his friends, but also the villains including Spider-Man's first villain, the Chameleon, but also a proto-Scorpion and tentacleless Otto Octavious.
This was just one of the shows giving a release date during the panel, fans also saw the first footage for the I Am Groot short series coming in August.
Spider-Man: Freshman Year comes exclusively to Disney+ in 2024.
