Veteran video game writer Walt Williams has landed a new job with Insomniac Games, the Sony-owned developer of the Ratchet & Clank and Spider-Man franchises.

Williams made the announcement on Twitter. "I may have done a thing," he wrote, attaching a photo of his eyes and a placard that says "Insomniac Games."

The exact nature of Williams' involvement with Insomniac is unclear, and we don't know what project(s) he may be contributing to, but it's clear he's now working with Insomniac in some capacity.

Williams is a games industry veteran known for working on a number of 2K properties, including BioShock, Borderlands, Mafia, The Darkness, and Spec Ops: The Line. He also wrote for the Star Wars Battlefront series. Additionally, Williams wrote a book--Significant Zero--which talks about the incredibly challenging nature of making AAA games.

Williams is just the latest big-name hire for Insomniac, as the studio also recently re-hired Drew Murray, who worked at Insomniac for a decade before moving to Xbox to help start the new studio The Initiative. Murray has now returned to Insomniac to work on a new game.

Insomniac Games is on a hot streak. The studio released Marvel's Spider-Man in 2018, which was recently followed up by Spider-Man: Miles Morales, both of which were big hits. The company's next game is Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart for PS5, which launches in June.

In 2019, Sony spent more than $200 million to acquire Insomniac Games to make them a first-party studio. Insomniac does not have any future titles that have been announced yet.
