Venom plays a major role in the story of Marvel's Spider-Man 2, which launched today, October 20. And the symbiote could possibly get a starring role in a spin-off to the PS5 exclusive in the future.

Asked by Insider about a Venom game similar to Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Spider-Man senior narrative director Jon Paquette sort of danced around the question. "We're focused on Spider-Man 2, and what we're gonna do is we're gonna wait to see how the fans react," he said. "We're gonna listen to the fans and we're gonna ask ourselves, 'Okay, what do the fans really want?'"

But first, Paquette said developer Insomniac needs some rest and relaxation. "We'll kind of talk about stuff after we've all had time to sleep and take vacations," he said. Though the studio isn't totally moving on from Spider-Man 2. The PS5 exclusive should get New Game Plus sometime this year, in addition to mission replay via an update.

GameSpot's Spider-Man 2 review notes that the "story's exploration of loneliness is fantastic, creating gripping new narratives for the two heroes, Peter and Miles, as well as the two main villains, Kraven and Venom." GameSpot also has info on how long it takes to beat Spider-Man 2 and all of the suits in the game.

As for what's next at Insomniac, don't forget the studio is also making a reportedly M-rated Wolverine that could arrive as early as fall 2024.
