Creative director Bryan Intihar says the team wanted to make an original story, so it's not just telling the same old Venom story.

Spider-Man 2 creative director Bryan Intihar took the stage at Summer Game Fest to share more details on the upcoming Insomniac game, including a release date. After sharing some story details, Intihar announced the release date of October 20, saying he's "very confident" that the team will hit that date.

While we were previously left to infer that Venom would play a role in this game due to Peter showing up in the symbiote suit, this time we saw actual concept art of Peter and Miles taking on a full-fledged Venom. But, Intihar said, this won't be Eddie Brock in the suit. Instead, the studio wanted to tell an original story that's different than what Spidey fans may be expecting. Intihar also said the city has doubled in size.
