Two Spider-Man characters, one player.

Insomniac Games has confirmed that the upcoming Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is purely a single-player game, and it will not feature any co-op.

On Twitter, a user asked the studio if the game was going to have co-op, and Insomniac replied, "Nope! It is an epic single-player adventure!" This dashes any hopes for those who were hoping to swing around Manhattan with a friend together. Co-op certainly made some sort of sense given that there are two Spider-Man characters in Miles Morales and Peter Parker, but it looks like that won't be the case.

Insomniac's answer also comes as a surprise as the voice actor for Miles in the game, Nadji Jeter, teased at SacAnime Summer 2022 during a panel that co-op was a possibility.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is set to launch in Fall 2023 exclusively for PlayStation 5. While a specific release date hasn't been confirmed yet, Venom's voice actor, Tony Todd, seemingly revealed that it would be sometime in September. The game will be darker than its predecessor and it has a free prequel comic book that dropped on May 6, which introduced a new villain into the story called The Hood.

Sony's next PlayStation showcase is set to air on Wednesday, May 24. So hopefully, there will be a release date confirmation during the showcase.
