UK-based development studio The Bitmap Brothers has announced that it is currently developing a new Speedball game called Speedball Arena. The game will be network-compatible and is currently planned for release on the PC and next-generation consoles. Specific platforms were not announced. The futuristic sports game will include a variety of features not found in the two previous installments in the series. In the game, players can train their team members in the single-player mode and take individual players from their team online to compete with and against other human opponents. Players can also choose to stay on the sidelines, tracking statistics for opposing teams online and studying opponents' gameplay strategy. A new targeting system for easier controls and a new class system will also be part of the game. More than 30 arenas and online-specific features such as chat, clans, league standings, and server search, among others, will be available in the game.

The Bitmap Brothers has not announced a publisher or release date for the game at this time. GameSpot will have more as further information is released.
