Sorry, Halo 5 Is Not Being Added To The Master Chief Collection

Microsoft says again that it has no plans to bring Halo 5 to The Master Chief Collection.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection is the most complete Halo package ever released, but it doesn't have every one of Master Chief's journeys included in it. Halo 5 is the only mainline game missing from the collection, and it's going to stay that way.

Developer 343 Industries reaffirmed in a blog post that Halo 5 is not currently planned to be added to The Master Chief Collection. The wording suggests this is not a set-in-stone declaration, but for now, it seems quite unlikely that Halo 5 will join The Master Chief Collection.

As it stands, Halo 4 will be the final game added to the collection on PC. The Xbox One edition has included Halo 4 since release in 2014.

"[Halo 4] is the last Halo title we currently have planned for the collection (sorry to crush your Halo 5 in MCC dreams), so let's finish strong!" 343 said.

This is no surprise, as 343 has been saying for a long time now that it has no plans to add Halo 5 to MCC.

Halo 4 will be added to MCC on PC in October, starting with a beta test that is scheduled to begin very soon. In the blog post, 343 said the start-date for the Halo 4 test is "rapidly approaching."

This beta test will be somewhat different, it seems, as 343 said it will invite every single eligible, registered member of the Halo Insider program. The beta test, which might introduce cross-play, will be available for both PC and console. You can sign up for the free Halo Insider program here.

The next mainline Halo game is Halo Infinite, which was recently delayed to 2021. While you'll have to wait a while longer to play the game, you can start buying Halo-branded sweet snacks now to get in-game items.
