Sophia, Civilian

A profile of Sophia, a Civilian of The Division, for Stories of The Division. Sponsored by Ubisoft.

“The screams in the night. Not the ones of anger, but the ones of terror. That’s what drove us inside. And fear kept us inside. At first it felt safe. Quiet. Now… now all I hear in my dreams is the click the lock made when we first barricaded the door. We were afraid those lunatics outside would take everything from us. The locks kept us safe from the rioters. But chains don’t stop disease.

"All the stuff that came after… The fires outside. Running low on food. My friends getting sick one by one, some of them… giving up ... I saw someone pushed from the top of a four-story building across the street. Or maybe he jumped? I don’t know what to believe anymore. But it doesn’t really matter now... now everything is silent and dark, and I'm alone with the ghosts.

"The day my roommate died was the most surreal, because it was a really beautiful day. The sunset on the Hudson lit up my dorm, and gave everything this orange glow. It was luminous, almost heavenly. That’s what I cling to now. That beautiful glow. There’s still hope out there, somewhere. That’s what gets me through.”

Stories of The Division offers an intimate look into the lives of 20 fictional New Yorkers living in the world of Tom Clancy's The Division. These conversations are set during the early stages of the outbreak. This series was written and produced by Studio 61 of CBS Interactive in collaboration with Ubisoft.
