My Response: This is a 360 fanboy or owner who needs to reword his thoughts about a company that didn't even offer HDD Drives to all of their systems. Hoffy: This Sony guy is a moron. He says the idea is bad because it isn't fair to people without hard drives. So what Microsoft shouldn't release anything unless everybody can buy it? Even so, I think the core system will sell more than the lower budget ps3. The great thing about the core is that its a games console, for things like "buy project gotham etc, memory card.. done" and there you have it, a genuine games console. And all the extra stuff is there if you want it. I think the core should still stay the same, because in the end, I think that the PRIMARY function should be one valid choice, and then offer more for more money. For example, if someone wanted a mobile phone just to make calls, they can pay a lower price to get a nice phone which does just that. But if you want other features, you pay more for them. Now, if ALL phones were really expensive and had everything on them, it would suck. Because not many people could afford such phones, or have the need for all those features... Its nice for gamers to have the lower budget choice to play games, it opens the user base out alot more. And then when they decide to take a next step, they can. With the ps3 you are stuck either way, if hddvd gets more exclusive movies etc, or bluray dies out indefinately (like betamax) ps3 owners are stuck. But if hddvd loses out, all microsoft would need to do is have a bluray add-on! There are many complicated paths for both consoles, however the mass market like the fact that consoles play games primarily, and everything else should be secondary. The core system is great because it makes the 360 avaliable to more users, with lower budgets (which is A LOT of people) something which the ps3 strategy lacks..

yawannataco I think MS is trying too hard to keep up with Sony. Sony has better hardware and the price reflects that. MS is trying too hard to tack on extra features that are really just making them look scared. MS has a solid chance at winning this round, much better than Sony, and they need to realize it's not about HD-DVD and watching tv on your xbox but the games. Just like Sony did with the PS2 and Nintendo is doing with the Wii. There isn't anything stopping a core user from buying a hard drive and using it now is there? Hmmm wow this is pretty stupid of sony to say. First off after dissapointments time and again. Also I believe Sony is only putting HDMI on their higher level version...that, IMO, is a bigger disservice. At least you can buy a HDD, you can't put an HDMI port on. OH and to the person who is ranting about the wireless...I don't plan on going wireless any time soon. Besides chances are w/e the PS3 has in them, it will be far outdated, even if it is 801.11n, that it will be slower than a good ol' wire. Also about Sony's online service...have we heard any information on it? Oh yah that's right, we havn't. XBL is a great service and that 50 (yes 50 if you buy it for a year) is way better than any free crappy ass service Sony can give me. Also I don't have an HDTV...I'm glad Microsoft isn't charging me for a player that I would never use... Well... you can now see what Sony's main concerns are... Movies. At least Microsoft are concentrating on GAMES as their primary function, and fleshing the console out with extra stuff with some price drops and things here and there. Um, they're criticizing Microsoft for ripping off their customers? Has Sony actually checked to see what they are charging people for the PS3? This is full-out crap rhetoric from a company that obviously can't stay quiet about anything that happens anywhere. First off, any one who bought a 360 with the intention of doing anything other than playing games got the Premium system, or if they couldn't wait, got a hard drive to go with the core. Period. Second, this new service probably isn't going to be something that everyone on Live uses. Probably just a small percentage. People don't have to use it, and won't need that HD as a result. Microsoft has been all about giving it's gamers options. That's why they have the option to buy the HD-DVD player if they want it, and weren't forced to pay an insane amount for their 360 for a feature that the majority of them wouldn't even use. Same goes with this. Sony is just trying to get press and get those few gamers out there still on the fence that just happen to have a ridiculous amount of money to blow over to their side. Also, when comparing the 360 and the PS3, it's better to compare the premium 360 with the base model PS3. Lots of people erroneously assume the premium 360 and the premium PS3 are comparable, but the hardware doesn't support that. 360 fans LOVE to compare the $400 and $600 price points, but they don't seem to understand that the lower end PS3 is the equivalent (for the purposes of comparison) of the premium 360. You may debate which system is better until your fingers bleed, but at least make a fair comparison.

Hmm, whereas you do have some good points you are wrong on other certain facts. I do bash MS because mostly of Windows but their systems haven't been all that impressive either. Photoshope on Linux would look bad, but not on OSX by Apple. And with Linux you can have any GUI you want. I also have OSX installed for a stable interface. And the internet would still be around don't kid yourself. It would be on apple and I would bash any company that claims to be good but actually is two faced, which both Sony and MS are. I just got tired of people complaining.

sony hasnt had an original idea since the walman in the 70s. the playstation is what was left over from the failed nintendo/sony disc drive. sony took sega from us, lik-sang, and now cant handle MS doing better so like a play yard bully bad talks them to win us over... shame on you sony you lost my vote
