Sony's Naughty Dog studio is bringing 2013 PlayStation 3 action game The Last of Us to the PlayStation 4 this month with a special Remastered version, but high-definition remakes from Sony might not stop there. In a new interview, PlayStation Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida teased that the Uncharted series is a possibility for an HD re-release.

"There are requests from some consumers for games that were released later in the generation, like Uncharted, which people might have missed," Yoshida told Eurogamer. "That would be a good candidate." At the same time, however, Yoshida stressed that the company does not want to "flood the market with remade games, either."

Another first-party Sony game being re-made for the PS4 is the original Ratchet & Clank. This project was announced at E3, but we have yet to see any footage for the game or learn any other details beyond the fact that it is supposed to be released alongside the Ratchet & Clank movie in 2015.

Some have criticized Sony (and Microsoft, too) for re-releasing older games for new consoles. But according to Yoshida, data shows that half of the current PS4 owners never bought a PS3, meaning The Last of Us Remastered and other potential remakes would be completely new experiences to these players.

"Almost 50 percent of people who have purchased a PS4 didn't own a PS3, and that's lots of people that missed exclusive PS3 titles like The Last of Us," Yoshida said, citing a Nielsen study. "So it's a great way to welcome those people back to PlayStation, saying this is what you missed."

Yoshida didn't say if it was Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (2007), Uncharted: Among Thieves (2009), or Uncharted: Drake's Deception (2011) that was the strongest contender for a PS4 remake. There is also the possibility that Sony would bundle all three together as part of some kind of Nathan Drake Collection, a la Microsoft's The Master Chief Collection for Xbox One.

A fourth entry in the mainline Uncharted series, Uncharted: A Thief's End, is coming to PS4 in 2015.

If you were in charge at Sony, which Uncharted game(s) would you want to bring forward to the PS4? Let us know in the comments below!
