Sony Shares God Of War PS5 Save Transfer And Frame Rate Details

The developer behind the God of War franchise announced some details for the franchise's back catalog on PS5.

God of War: Ragnarok is one of the most anticipated games for the still-unreleased PlayStation 5. But while we don't have many details about Ragnarok--besides a vague 2021 release window--developer Santa Monica Studio recently revealed that both the 2018 God of War reboot and 2010's God of War 3 will offer easy save transfers from the original console to your new PS5.

The studio also noted that God of War 2018 will offer up to 60 frames per second with the Favor Performance video option, which will improve on the patchy frame rate of the original PS4 version. Though God of War 3 was originally released for the PS3, Santa Monica Studio put together a remastered version of the game in 2015 for the PS4.

According to Sony, the PS5 will be backward compatible with 99% of the PS4's library. However, it will offer no support for PS1, PS2, or PS3 games. Some PS4 games will have improved performance on the PS5 thanks to Game Boost, though it's unclear what games will be affected. Perhaps we'll finally get the 60 frames per second Bloodborne we all deserve--without a hack, of course.
