Developer Sony Santa Monica has announced its intention to wrap up work on God of War: Ascension multiplayer in order to move on to "other projects".

The news was posted on the official PlayStation Blog alongside the latest updates for the God of War: Ascension multiplayer mode. Sony Santa Monica confirmed it would not be creating any additional downloadable content for God of War: Ascension multiplayer as the "primary team resources start to transition" to other plans.

Downloadable content to be ceased will include maps, weapons, armours, and marks. Sony Santa Monica has stated that multiplayer support for God of War: Ascension has not ended, and that it will release a balance update and a digital download version of God of War: Ascension on PSN in the future.

The digital version of God of War: Ascension has a release date of October 15, with other regions "to follow soon after". Additional release details are available from the God of War website.

Following the game's digital release, players will be able to download the God of War: Ascension soundtrack for a limited time and purchase DLC items with "special pricing options".
