Sony Offers Rare Discounts On PS Plus And PS Now Subscriptions

12-month subscriptions to PS Plus and PS Now are discounted right now on the PlayStation Store.

For the first time in quite a while, Sony is offering discounts on both of its PlayStation subscription services. 12-month subscriptions for PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now are 25% off right now, lowering the cost to $45 each for a limited time.

The PlayStation Plus offer is only for those without an active PS Plus subscription, so you cannot extend your subscription at a discount directly through Sony right now. However, for the past several months Ebay has had significantly discounted PS Plus subscriptions. As of now, you can still grab a 12-month PS Plus subscription--code delivered via email--at Ebay for $35. But for new subscribers or lapsed members who want to buy directly through Sony, the $45 price is the best deal you'll find outside of Black Friday.

It's a great time to sign up for PlayStation Plus, as the zany battle royale and breakout hit Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is one of August's free games for subscribers. In addition to the freebies each month, PS Plus grants access to online multiplayer, cloud storage, and the occasional exclusive discount.

PS Now sort of flies under the radar, but it's essentially Sony's version of Xbox Game Pass. Each month, new games are added that can either be streamed or downloaded to your PS4. Notable games added in August include Hitman 2 and Dead Cells. At $45, PS Now is a pretty good deal that's worthy of consideration.

No thanks. Xbox Live is better for online gaming. Tried ps plus when Cod Advanced Warfare came out and the multiplayer experience put me off. Not the actual gaming experience but the lag I experienced on psn. Plus the game itself took an eternity to download. Way slower than downloading games on XBL. Thought it was down to my internet speed at the time.

Not sure if psn has improved since then but that really put me off. Tried the same game on XBL and had no problems at all which confirmed to me that it wasn’t my internet connection after all it was psn.

And it made me realise that the multiplayer in that game sux.

It’s going to be interesting to see how much psn and ps now improve once sony starts taking advantage of Microsoft’s Azure data centre network.

Last time I played online on psn it was terrible.

Well, that was quick. The links to both the PS Now and PS Plus aren't working anymore and I can't find those discounted prices anywhere in the PS Store. Either your links are wrong or the deals were removed since the posting of this article 8/26. Problem is I JUST got the email about this from Gamespot TODAY (9/2).

I noticed that PSNow is a little cheaper right now so decided to check it out by searching for older titles that I used to play. Out of about 30 searches, only 3 came up. They were Dark Void, Killzone and the Metal Gear Solid series. This service seriously needs to work on getting more titles onto their platform such as Agarest, Alice Madness Returns, Blur, Dragon Age, Final Fantasy, Mass Effect, Prince of Persia, the numbered Resident Evil games, Star Ocean, The Godfather, Unreal Tournament and Zone of the Enders to name a small few. If they had Dragon Age and Mass Effect on there it would be an instant subscribe from me.

So Sony is discounting online access, while MS takes away 12 month GOLD & in effect increasing the price drastically...forcing users into GamepASS?
