Sony Closing All Its Stores in Canada

They used to be cool around the late 90's early 2000's. Then they just because a place of getting the worse bang for your buck.

<< LINK REMOVED >> Not really. The one in our city was just an oversized electronics section like you'd find in Future shop. They never had sales. The only good thing about it was it had sound rooms so you could check out surround systems in an average sized room.

Overpriced. Had one where I grew up and the tvs were more expensive than at the futureshop literally next door to it. They were redundant anyways.

Why would you blame Canada if Sony can't afford stay in business there?

They should just let them do it for free?

canada is one of the richest countries in the world.

<< LINK REMOVED >> lol, if you have a PS4 in 30 different stores in your area, why would you go all the way to the one Sony store in the city to pick one up? Most people go to wherever is closest or buy online. Why should Sony bother paying rent and utilities on buildings when people can just go to Walmart, Best Buy, Future Shop, EB Games or the host of other places that sell Sony products? They are going to save a huge amount and it won't affect their sales at all. It's smart business. Has nothing to do with Canada's economy.

We cannot have Walmart and Best Buy and Future Shop and Costco and Target and etc etc etc when the population of Canadian cities doesn't warrant it. There are only three cities in the country that have more than 1 million people living in it, and 47 cities that have six-digit populations. America has 9 cities with over a million people living in it and over 200 that have six-digit populations. If that's not enough, online shopping is more popular now than it ever was before... which if you're in the heart of the Canadian winter is probably an attractive option over going out and making the trip for whatever it is you need.

If I want to make a purchase or see what kind of deal somebody has, I check their site. The thought that they could be the next walmart and it didn't happen. The Sony store I found was useless unless you were a pure Sony fan. I know me and all of my friends would rather go to a big box store and compare different brands when buying something.

The economy is not that bad either. Lower oil prices have been putting a lot more money into people pockets. The government may even raise loan rates this year for the first time in what 5 years?

<< LINK REMOVED >> Canada's economy is fine. Sony needs to cut costs. Has nothing to do with the Canadian economy. Some stores just don't do well in some countries. Target never went over well but, Walmart is huge here. Any department store has a hard time competing with Walmart.

Also, I'd blame online shopping more than anything else. Brick and mortar stores are going to start failing. That's just the way it is.
