TOKYO--Sony Computer Entertainment announced 10 titles that will be returning to the PlayStation 2 this summer as budget-priced "PlayStation 2 the Best" rereleases. The games will be available on July 7 at the price of 2,800 yen ($26), excluding a few titles as indicated in the full list below.

The company is also bringing back its classic Ape Escape (Sarugecchu) to retailers as a PSone Books reprint at the price of 1,890 yen ($17) on July 14, the same day that Ape Escape 3 will be released.

In related news, Konami's Rumble Roses will also be hitting retailers in Japan with a new price of 2940 yen ($27) as a "Konami the Best" reprint edition on August 25. The announcement comes less than four months after the wrestling game's initial release in the country.

In 2002, Japanese game makers lost a court case that attempted to ban the sale of used games. As a result, many companies have begun offering budget reprints as a defensive measure against the sale of used titles, which does not earn them any money.

New PlayStation 2 the Best titles available July 7:

Ratchet & Clank (2,800 yen / $26)
Ratchet & Clank 3 (2,800 yen / $26)
Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War (2,800 yen / $26)
Tales of Symphonia (2,800 yen / $26)
Tales of Destiny 2 (2,800 yen / $26)

Shin Sangoku Musou 3 Moushouden (2,604 yen / $24)
