Sonic and Pac-Man artist Greg Martin dies

Man behind iconic video game box art including early Sonic and Pac-Man games passes away.

Greg Martin, the prolific artist behind some of the most memorable and iconic video game box art, including artwork for early Sonic and Pac-Man games, has died.

The news comes from the Nintendo Age forums, where a friend of Martin recalled his illustrious career as an artist.

Martin started off working at Tom & Jerry and The Flintstones animation studio Hanna Barbera, before switching to the games industry. He reportedly worked there at the same time Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane did.

His long list of video game box art credits include various Sonic the Hedgehog and Pac-Man games, as well as numerous licensed games from the Jetsons and Flintstones franchises.
