Soldner: Marine Corps announced

JoWood is readying a sequel to its less-than-stellarly-received shooter Soldner: Secret Wars.

Last year, European publisher JoWood released Wings Simulations' Soldner: Secret Wars. Published by Encore Software in North America, Soldner, a third-person shooter, received less than stellar reviews, even though it contained some innovative gameplay and intense modern-combat action.

Despite Secret Wars' lackluster reception, JoWood has announced that an expansion pack is in the works. A brief German-language announcement on the official Soldner Web site described the expansion in brief detail. "Soldner: Marine Corps is a new expansion for Soldner: Secret Wars, with all-new adventures on the virtual battlefield." Apparently the game's name comes from the addition of sea combat. "Now you must venture into the water with your brothers in arms," trumpets the site.

The Soldner site also reveals that the game will ship on Feburary 25, presumably in Germany only. GameSpot will have any details on the expansion's North American release as soon as they become available.
