SNK delivers King of Fighters two-hit combo to Xbox

New Xbox Live-enabled pack of team-brawling series' 2002 and 2003 editions lands in stores.

It used to be that the hardest choice when it came to King of Fighters was picking a team of three fighters from the game's sprawling roster. These days it seems like the number of King of Fighters iterations is approaching the number of possible three-on-three teams one can choose in the games. On this generation's systems alone, SNK Playmore has King of Fighters: Maximum Impact (and its Maniax offshoot), King of Fighters 2000/2001, the upcoming King of Fighters '94 Re-Bout and King of Fighters NeoWave, and King of Fighters 02/03, the Xbox version of which arrives at stores across North America today.

King of Fighters 2002 boasts a roster of 44 characters culled from the six previous installments in the series, while King of Fighters 2003 for the first time let players switch between their three characters in the middle of a match. Both games feature online fighting over Xbox Live, and King of Fighters 2003 also features an online tournament mode of play.

The same combo pack was released on the PlayStation 2 earlier this year, albeit without online play.
