SNES Classics Finally Coming to 3DS Virtual Console

While the Nintendo 3DS virtual console has been filled with great nostalgia-filled entries over the years, there's been one gaping hole: the SNES. You can play SNES games on the Wii U's Virtual Console, but not on Nintendo's handheld. That's changing today.

Nintendo announced during today's Direct presentation that a slew of SNES classics are coming to the New 3DS Virtual console (note, this update does not apply to the non-New 3DS). Following today's Nintendo Direct presentation, you'll be able to purchase the SNES versions of F-Zero, Pilotwings, and Super Mario World.

While Nintendo didn't share prices, they will likely be similar to current prices for SNES titles on the Wii U Virtual Console.

These versions of the game will also include a "perfect pixel" mode, which retains the original resolution of the SNES games, but on the 3DS screen. Nintendo did not clarify during the Direct whether there would be an alternative "non-pixel perfect" mode.

If you haven't yet played Earthbound, this will be the perfect chance to catch up with the cult-classic series. You should catch up with the other good games on this list too...but, seriously, you should play Earthbound.
