@heqteur: In case it wasn’t obvious enough I wasn’t really being serious in that regard.. & while I wouldn’t call it fake or that extreme it can certainly be exaggerated in some instances & people who’re affiliated in 1 way or another spreading the “good word” or building hype isn’t that uncommon.

But just saying.. I don’t doubt for a second in what the masses will blow their dough on, I don’t have room to talk.

Just surprised I don’t see more ppl that share a similar mentality.. that this is garbage & is only slowing down these games & many others from becoming available on the eShop, thus making a much bigger library of games accessible to the Switch, eliminating the need for 5 different consoles, or starving for games.

Even though it would’ve made them plenty of money I guess Nintendo thought it wasn’t enough to keep them relevant.

@darthrevenx: The NES, SNES, Mega Drive (Genesis), Master System and Arcade emulators I've tried have all worked without a single issue. The only emulators I've had any issues with are the N64 emulators (due to the N64 being a quirky system and the existing emulators dependence on plugins for particular games to run their best) and the Sega Saturn (due to the fact that the emulator was under developed when I tried it in comparison to the more popular emulators for the systems I've mentioned above). The rest of this comment is going to be my stance on retro gaming and emulators and is not directed specifically at you. Feel free to stop reading now if you aren't interested (same goes for anyone else reading this) as it's fairly long.

I see emulators as being important due to the fact that: 1) Nintendo will only bother licensing games they see as being worthy of "classic" status and 2) Games that can no longer be sold due to expired/disputed/lost copyright will remain available to play (and more importantly from a historical standpoint, won't be totally forgotten about).

I pay for all my current games and don't support piracy for the purpose of "trying out" a game as some people do. However, when it comes to classic games on systems that are no longer produced I see emulators as being incredibly important because the video game industry doesn't make much of an effort to preserve the back catalogue of games unless they can dub it "classic" and re-sell it to people. Nintendo have made their money many times over from games like Mario etc, so I have no problem when people turn to emulators when 1) Games are no longer sold due to licensing issues or 2) Companies employ tactics like artificially limiting the quantity of a product so that they can charge a high price (especially when, like I said earlier, they've already made their money many times over from the original release and subsequent re-releases of the software).

Issues with licensing and companies deciding what is worth their while making available is also the reason I strongly oppose services like Playstation NOW and the proposal that one day all gaming becomes a cloud based service. If a game is not deemed popular enough or licensing expires/is disputed/is no longer possible (sports games and racing games with car brands are the worst for this) it will not be made available on such a service. They'll limit our choice to what they decide is worthwhile (profitable for them). Let's pretend that your favourite game is one that is fairly obscure, an old sports game you used to love to play with friends/family or an old racing game with licensed cars (ever noticed how the original NFS games aren't available digitally despite being classics?). They won't dedicate server resources to something that barely anyone plays and they can't or won't pay to re-licence content with branding/real player names. That means that your favourite game could potentially become unplayable and there's not a damn thing you can do about it because all our power to preserve/retain games has been stripped away from us.

@darthrevenx: that console aint orginal too, they are emulated. Also the games will work with black bars. But with raspberry pi, you can add custom overlays and bezzels with awsome art styles. Also the best emulators installed that works without any issues.

@billy90rickey: Ahh ok well that's bad, no such issues here in oz so far anyway.

I will probably forget about it before it releases so it will be a nice surprise when it does turn up :)
