Smite Gets A$100,000 Prize Pool For Oceania Pro League 2016

Hi-Rez Studios has announced the Smite Pro League 2016 series for the Oceania region. The region will be included with Season 3 of Smite Esports and have a total of prize pool of A$100,000.

The season will have three major splits, with the first of two qualifiers to kick off on February 27. The first split will culminate with the LAN finals at CGPL Autumn LAN on April 16-17. Split One will have a prize pool of A$10,000. More information will be posted at the Cybergamer website.

Previously, Australian team Avant Garde was crowned champions of the Smite Oceania Pro League. The victory ensured that Avant Garde qualified for the global Smite World Championships, which held a prize pool of $1 million. The event took place in January this year at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, with teams from North America, Europe, China, Oceania, Brazil and Latin America participating. Winning team Episilon eSports took home the first place trophy, along with a cool $500,000 cash prize.

Earlier this week developer Hi-Rez studios announced patch version 3.2 for the game. The update will add new character Raijin the Master of Thunder, as well as new skins and character-specific achievements. Some items will also be tweaked.
