In a new interview, Bethesda's Todd Howard reveals he played the Nintendo Switch at E3 this past year and came away feeling very positive about the hybrid hardware.

"I love it. I got to play it. I will tell you--well, maybe that's an N.D.A. thing," he told Glixel. "One of the best demos I've ever seen. Probably the best demo I've ever seen. At E3."

He said Nintendo's plan for the Switch is "really smart," going on to say that Bethesda is "definitely" going to support the console. That's no surprise, really, as Bethesda is among the dozens of partners for the console. Not only that, but Skyrim showed up in the Switch reveal trailer. The game is yet to be confirmed for the console, but it seems likely that it will happen.

"We're definitely going to be supporting it," Howard said about Switch. "It's the first time we've done something on Nintendo. If you don't count the old NES stuff."

One of the unique elements of the Switch is that it's a console/mobile hybrid that you can play at home or on the go. Asked if Skyrim can really be played on a portable device, Howard teased, "It's the same game on the TV and on the other screen."

Also in the interview, Howard confirms that The Elder Scrolls 6 is in the works, but stressed that, "It's not what you would call a big, active project right now."

"There are some other [projects] that we have going," he said. "We know [The Elder Scrolls is] important to our fans, and we need to be careful about setting expectations. It's certainly a game that we'll be making one day. I could sit here and explain to you exactly what we want it to be."

In August, Bethesda marketing executive Pete Hines discussed The Elder Scrolls 6, or whatever it will be called, saying it's not in the works now. However, Bethesda will eventually make it, he said.

The full Glixel interview is a fascinating read, packed with a lot of really interesting insight from Howard. Go read it here.

As for what Bethesda Game Studios is working on if it's not a new mainline Elder Scrolls game, the studio is cooking up "three big and crazy" projects, according to Howard. He's since walked back that comment, however.

"I should have never said a number because we have so many things. You could add it up in different ways," he said in an interview. "You could say it's bigger or smaller. They're a long way off. I think the larger point was, no one should expect to hear about those [games] anytime soon. We always overlap projects. We just have more going on now than we had before."

Following the big success of mobile game Fallout Shelter, Bethesda also plans to make more mobile titles in the future. Additionally, a new Elder Scrolls spinoff game, The Elder Scrolls Legends, is coming out for mobile devices and PC later this year.

A remastered version of Skyrim, the Special Edition, came out in October for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
