To anyone looking out of their window in England right now, it may be hard to believe that summer's not all that far off. But according to Sony Europe, it starts sometime in April, as the company has chosen that month to release SingStar Summer Party for the PlayStation 2.

The latest version of the sing-along series will have 30 songs from artists including Wham!, Mika, Blur, and Madness, spanning from the '80s to the present day.

The first SingStar game, which was developed by Sony Europe and London Studio, was released in Europe on the PlayStation 2 in May 2004. The game came with two USB microphones (one pink and one blue) so that wannabe warblers could croon along to the songs on the game disc.

An avalanche of sequels has since followed, including SingStar 80s, SingStar Anthems, and the PlayStation 3 version. SingStar for Sony's latest console also comes with the online SingStore, which allows gamers to download songs to pick and mix what they have in their collection. Special regionalised editions of the game have also been released in various European countries, including SingStar Die Toten Hosen in Germany, SingStar Bollywood, and SingStar Italian Party.
