Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has recently released the first information on Sing (working title) for the PlayStation 2. The game, which is currently in development at Sony London, will challenge players armed with a USB microphone to sing along to a number of licensed music tracks, and it will then give them feedback based on the pitch, tone, and rhythms of their performance.

Sing will feature a number of "pass the mic" party games incorporating song challenges, duets, battles, and team competitions. Solo players will also be catered to in the game's career mode, in which they'll start out singing in their bedroom, get to cut their first record, and, if they're good enough, get to perform in front of admiring fans.

Three different versions of Sing are currently scheduled for release in Europe in spring 2004, allowing players to choose their favorite genre of music from pop, urban, and classics. All of the music in the games will be licensed, and many of the tracks will be accompanied by footage from the original music videos. We'll bring you more information on Sing as soon as it becomes available.
