Sierra Studios Formed

Top game designers assembled on a single banner.

Sierra Online has announced the creation of a brand division it's calling Sierra Studios, bringing the development houses Impressions Software (of Boston and London) and Cincinnati's PyroTechnix, as well as its Washington-based Sierra Northwest operations, under one banner - that of Sierra Studios.

The company's best-known designers - Roberta Williams (known for her King's Quest series), Al Lowe (driving force behind the Leisure Suit Larry franchise), Raymond E. Feist (Return to Krondor), David Lester (who has worked on Lords of the Realm and Caesar), and Jane Jensen (Gabriel Knight) - will all be working under the Sierra Studios banner.

The company has six titles planned for release in 1998 that will sport the Sierra Studios banner: action-strategy game Half-Life, which the company expects to publish this summer 1998, and Gabriel Knight III: Blood of the Sacred, Blood of the Damned, historic simulation Caesar III, adventure title King's Quest: Mask of Eternity, space combat game Homeworld, and Return to Krondor, all currently scheduled for fall 1998 releases.
