Shudder Will Release A New Horror Movie Every Week For The Next Three Months
The horror streaming service has a lot of scary content on the way in 2021.
Last week Netflix announced that it plans to release a new movie every single week in 2021, and revealed its expansive line-up for the year. But it's not the only streaming service with an ambitious plan for releasing new films this year. AMC's horror platform Shudder has confirmed that it will release a new movie every week for the next 11 weeks.
The 11 movies span a variety of sub-genres within the horror genre, and several releases arrive with rave reviews from high-profile film festivals such as Sundance, Tribeca, and Fantastic Fest. The line-up kicked off this week with the survival horror The Hunted, which is now available. The subsequent releases are:
- The Queen of Black Magic (January 28)
- A Nightmare Wakes (February 4)
- After Midnight (February 11)
- Shook (February 18)
- The Dark and the Wicked (February 25)
- Lucky (March 4)
- Stay Out of the F—ing Attic (March 11)
- Koko-Di, Koko-Da (March 18)
- Slaxx (March 18)
- Violation (March 25)
Despite the disruption to much of the entertainment industry in 2020, Shudder had its most successful year since the service launched in 2015. It recorded record subscription numbers, and its zoom-based found footage movie Host was one of the most talked-about movies of the year.
As well as all the new films, Shudder subscribers also have the second season of the hit anthology show Creepshow to look forward to later in 2021. Although production was delayed because of the pandemic, the Season 2 started shooting in the fall. In addition, showrunner Greg Nicotero previously revealed that the downtime allowed him to work on the scripts for Season 3.
