In May 2004, Sony and Polyphony Digital announced that they were developing a PSP version of Gran Turismo. More than five years later, the 60fps-graphics game is finally coming out in North America, both solo and in a $200 bundle with a silver PSP-3000, a 2GB Memory Stick Pro Duo, and vouchers for a downloadable movie and in-game Chevrolet Corvette ZR1.

Curiously, the Gran Turismo PSP bundle won't go on sale until October 20, 19 days after the launches of the game itself and the PSP Go. Priced at $249.99--the same price as the original PSP when it went on sale in 2005--the new handheld will feature 16GB of flash memory and a screen that slides over the controls. It will have a 3.8-inch screen--versus the PSP-3000's 4.3-inch screen--and will be 43 percent lighter than the original, but it will not have a UMD drive. Despite promises of a "solution" by Sony, current North American PSP owners will not get free digital copies of their UMDs to play on the PSP Go. (UK PSP owners will be able to download three games from a restricted list.) For a closer look at the PSP Go, check out GameSpot's unboxing of the portable below.

Wii-wagglers will get a bit of a fright this week in the form of Dead Space Extraction. The Wii-exclusive prequel chronicles the viscera-spattered tragedy that led to the otherworldly carnage of last year's critically acclaimed horror-survival game Dead Space. The game also trades in the over-the-shoulder third-person point of view for a first-person shooter scheme, which sees players blast foes with the Wii Remote, House of the Dead: Overkill-style.

PlayStation 3 owners will get a chance to step into the split-toe tabi of Ryu Hayabusa in Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2. The reworked version of Ninja Gaiden II will feature less violence than its dismembering, decapitating Xbox 360 sibling, released last year to good reviews. However, it will add femme fatales imported from Tecmo's Dead or Alive series and an upgraded graphics engine. The M for Mature-rated game will come a la carte or via a $70 Collector's Edition bundled with an 80-page book with three parts: a strategy guide, a section with "vibrant Ninja Gaiden art," and a comic book that matches the storyline.

Rounding out the week's releases are Rockstar Games' Beaterator for the PSP, which also will get Sony's racer MotorStorm Arctic Edge. Electronic Arts looses its latest Sims creation, the cuddly espionage-themed MySims Agents, onto the Wii and DS, the latter of which will also receive Square Enix's Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days.

Speaking of the Wii, Xseed gives Nintendo's console some exclusive action RPG business in the form of Valhalla Knights: Eldar Saga. And last but definitely not least for PS3 owners, Bethesda Softworks releases two of its formerly Xbox 360- and PC-exclusive expansion packs for Fallout 3: Operation Anchorage and The Pitt. The Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition--which has all five expansions--ships October 13 for the PS3, PC, and Xbox 360.

Not sure what's with all of the PSP GO hate going around. Yea, $250 is crazy and should come down in price but as far as the system itself, it's awesome!! I cant tell you how many UMDs I've lost on the airplane from trying to swap games/movies in and out or having to dig through my bag under the seat infront of me to change a game - pain the booty!! I for one am so happy that now I can download all of my games. Not to mention no more having to reserve new gaqmes or run out to find a place that has it in stock... nope, now I just boot up, go online and download, thank you SONY!

PSP Go is going to fail. $249 for a portable is insane when for $50 more you can get a PS3 or a 360. Sony is trying to start gaming as being download only so they can cut out the used gamed market and charge whatever they want. No thanks.

This is a pretty lame week compared to what it's been the past few weeks. I'm just waiting for Rocktober 13th. Brutal Legend and Tim Schafer FTW!!!!!!

If you buy the PSPgo you should absolutely be shot on the spot, I'm sorry you must be out of your mind buying a $250 portable when you can get a PS3 or 360 for $299

can't wait for Go!. Finally a reason to upgrade from my Phat. No second analog stick is kinda a bummer, but understandable, since the Go! won't replace the 3000.

this looks to be a promising fall season line up of releases. Just hope that they're all coordinated and right on schedule for their release date. Id hate to have been waiting so long for a game and then it gets pushed back. Ive already previously experienced this with Batman Arkham Asylum. I was anticipating an end of June release and then i dont get it until close to labor day. Oh well it was worth the wait and plus i got it @ half price. .

Positive and negative of psp go: Positive: 16 gb of memory included because micro sd cost a fortune. : The psp go is lighter and flips like certain cell phones. Negative: Dont buy a psp go when you allready have a psp because no movies or games will work on the psp go because no UMD conversion. : When you are finish with your games you cant sell them because its all digital. : Need a small price cut because 50$ more and you can buy a ps3 slim witch is way better than a psp go.

Looking forward to Dead Space Extraction. The game looks pretty great and is suppose to have a ton more story then the original did. Of course then again I love rail shooters. And yea Brettsky128, I agree. I think the PSP Go will tank, and tank hard. It's tough not to think so when 9 out of 10 PSP fans seem to hate it. At this point few new adopters will pick it up at a $250 price tag, when you can get a DSi for $170. And what store is going to advertise a system that won't make them any profit off game sales. Sony may think their new system and strategy is a perfect storm, but looks more like a natural disaster to me.

@ taylormadederek Well i think we acctually still have quite a few good titles coming out this year. Borderlands, Dragon age: origins, Modern warfare 2, Assassins Creed 2, and Legend of Zelda: spirit tracks. Looking pretty good if you ask me.

Boo PSPGo! \ \ Not really too much interesting this week. Actually there isn't a lot of good games coming out for the rest of the year. This is a pretty slow Christmas season (RELATIVE TO OTHERS). It was going to be an amazing year for games but SO MANY got pushed to next year.

Yep... PSP Go will flop big time. Think about it. The games are download only so can't use your old games (if have any), can't trade games in when u've finished them, can't lend or borrow games and also u will have to pay whatever they're charging for the game off the download store. This along with a smaller screen and approx' £100 more is shocking. I enjoy going on the internet and looking to save a few pounds on a game. I don't want to go on the store and go "it's £20 so take it or leave it". Just a hopeful cash in for Sony in my eyes.
