Shadow Complex, Chair Entertainment and Epic Games' acclaimed Xbox Live Arcade title, is being remastered for release on PC, according to the European video game ratings board PEGI.

A listing on PEGI's website states the game will be available from December 2. Since classification boards generally only rate games that have been played, it is likely this remastered version does exist, but it may be that the release date isn't accurate.

Shadow Complex was originally released for the Xbox 360 in 2009. The Xbox Live Arcade title drew inspiration from side-scrolling exploration titles such as Konami's Castlevania and Nintendo's Metroid.

Like those games, players explored an intertwined game world, discovering new items and abilities that allowed them to venture deeper.

In GameSpot's Shadow Complex review, critic Lark Anderson praised "the core themes of exploration and high-intensity combat while treating you to lush graphics and multiplane complexity."

He continued: "Shadow Complex is an excellent current-generation take on a classic genre. There are enough secrets hidden in the Progressive Restoration's massive underground facility to keep you going for hours on your first play-through.

"With the four difficulty settings, competitive leaderboards, challenge rooms, clever achievements and bonus objectives, you won't want to leave it at that."

It was a good little game, but does it really need to be remastered already? lmao

I remember wanting to play this on PC ages ago. Now? Eh, not so much. Gonna try some Axiom Verge soon which looks cooler.

Cool. I remember it being a lot of fun on 360.

One of my top 10 favorite 360 games. It needs a sequel, not a remaster.

@rasterror: I don't have any problems with a remaster version, my problem is that is only for PC and not Xbox one as well. I do agree 100 percent this game does need a sequel it was one of the best games for Xbox 360 and it definitely needs a part 2. Epic games actually last year were in the planning stages of making a sequel they even had reports online of a part 2 but for whatever reasons Epic cancel the game and it never happened. Let's hope that after this remaster they reconsider a part 2 again.

More than the release date being wrong, I hope the platform(s) are as well.

Just PC, are you ****ing kidding me?

I mean... there are some great reasons to game on PC, Skyrim, Fallout, Half-Life, basically anything can be put in 3D...

But small games like this, as great as it is, is not something I need to experience with a stupid mouse/keyboard.

X1 release at minimum, or GTFO.

@skyhighgam3r: I don't know where you going with the remark of a stupid mouse and Keyboard? A mouse/Keyboard is just an extra that you getting with a PC version, every game in PC plays with a regular controller just like you do in consoles. I don't have any problems with a PC version, games 90 percent of the time look far better than what they do in home console versions. Now i do agree that it should be released in Xbox One as well. The remastered version of this game is fine with me but right now what i really want is a Sequel of this game let's hope they do it after the remaster.

@angrycreep:

I'm not saying PC graphics aren't better, they absolutely are. There are a lot of benefits to PC gaming for SOME games, such as the ones I listed above. A lot of games though, it's just not worth the hassle of using your PC to play.

As I said in response to another comment that missed the point of me mentioning keyboard/mouse:

"The Mouse/Keyboard comment was more or a rhetorical reference to the PC's digital environment than anything. The point is the PC environment sucks for games, always has, always will. Too many variables result in tedious amounts of tinkering & crashes."

A lot of people disagree with me, and that's fine. We're all here 'cause we love games. I just don't think that gaming should ever be more complicated than putting the game in and pushing play. What I call "VCR simple".

@skyhighgam3r: Controllers work on PC, too.

@MrFreehuggs: No sh*t Sherlock lol.

The Mouse/Keyboard comment was more or a rhetorical reference to the PC's digital environment than anything. The point is the PC environment sucks for games, always has, always will. Too many variables result in tedious amounts of tinkering & crashes.

Sometimes it's worth going through that nonsense. Like playing Skyrim with 4K textures, Hi-Res models, a laundry list of mods, and stereoscopic 3D.

But to play Shadow Complex? No...

@mjc0961: No, it makes me someone who expressed my opinion. Again, just cause it differs from yours doesn't make me a troll lol.

If you like the PC environment, well whoopdie doo for you.

That doesn't change the fact that my OPINION is: Gaming should never be more complicated then putting the game in, and pushing play. No more complicated than a VCR.

Now go cling to your steam library, and then continue to re-assure yourself how superior you are for 'being right' in your opinions. lol ****ing jack***

Main, sure wish this one would come to PS4. It was a pretty awesome game on 360.

Yes, yes, yes! About time this gets on to PC as well. I keep thinking to myself I may get a console for a few exclusives, but most of the ones I want end up coming to PC too so all is good

One of my favorites Arcade games for the 360. Love the game it was a top notch game. The explorations and secrets it fell like i was playing Metroid. Without a doubt this was one of the best Xbox Arcade game available in that console and anyone who haven't play this game should definitely give a try you won't regretted. After playing this game i was hoping for a sequel and Epic did have plans of making one they were in the planning stages of making a sequel but for whatever reason they cancel it and it never happened. Let's hope that after this remaster they reconsider the sequel again.

Ah, Shadow Complex, one of the many, many, many non-sci fi/military shooters and non-racing games that M$ owners didn't support. And they're keeping that legacy alive as they didn't support SunSet Overdrive, MGS V and Rise of the Tomb Raider. So why does third party companies keep giving M$ a free pass and not Nintendo?

@that_witch321: Shadow Complex is one of the best selling XBLA games, so wtf are you talking about?

Also, why would you buy Metal Gear Solid or Tomb Raider on Xbox One? That's just weird. That would be like buying God of War on Xbox One or Halo on PS4 (if they existed on that platform)
