When it rains news, it truly pours. Not only did we get news about another Sonic the Hedgehog movie and TV show, along with a Season 2 renewal for Halo from Paramount, but the Ninja Turtles are back. After first being revealed in July 2020, the Ninja Turtles movie from producers Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and Gravity Falls writer Jeff Rowe will arrive in 2023.

While it's exciting that we finally know when we'll see the fearsome foursome lean, green, and back on the screen, that's only the beginning. According to Paramount, there will also be a series of "villain-driven" movies coming directly to Paramount+. What we don't know is if these will be live-action or animated entries in the long-running franchise--or if they'll even be connected to the movie Rogen, Goldberg, and Rowe are working on. But fingers are crossed for a proper Baxter Stockman origin story.

Theatrically, the 2023 movie will be the fourth shot at launching the franchise. The first film, released in 1990, launched a trilogy. Then, in 2014, producer Michael Bay unleashed two films on the world, neither of which were exactly beloved by fans.

Interestingly, Rogen previously hinted at the 2023 release date. In a June 2021 tweet, he shared an image of what looks like a horribly written school assignment from Leonardo, in which he was studying mutation, the periodic table of elements, his own origins, and, for some reason, a need to apologize to April. The paper itself is dated August 11, 2023. A quick look at a calendar shows that to be a Friday--the day new movies are traditionally released.

There's no confirmation of the exact day we should expect this movie to hit theaters, but if that's not a clue, what is?
