Seth Rogen is writing and providing voicework the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, Mutant Mayhem. Rogen is a big-time fan of the franchise, so much so that his father bought him some nunchucks that he had an unfortunate mishap with.

Speaking to Empire (via IGN), Rogen said said he and co-writer Evan Goldberg took up karate because of their obsession with TMNT. Unfortunately for Rogen, he also sustained an injury due to his love of martial arts and TMNT. "My dad got me nunchucks that I cracked my head open with, because I was obsessed with the Ninja Turtles, and Michelangelo specifically," he said.

For his part, Goldberg brought up the time that Rogen offered to show him an "awesome move" with the nunchucks... but it didn't go so well.

"Seth had just got these nunchucks. He was like, 'Yo, check this out, I want to show you this awesome move,' and just immediately shattered a huge chandelier from his parents' house into a billion pieces. It took us, like, five hours to clean," he said.

On a more serious note, Goldberg said the TMNT series had a major impact on his and Rogen's lives, saying it's hard to discern the impact, but "it's not a small amount."

"We were the absolute perfect age, and comic nerds, and animation Saturday-morning guys. It was a heavy influence on us," he said.

Mutant Mayhem releases in theaters on August 2. In addition to writing the movie with Goldberg, Rogen voices Bebop. The rest of the cast includes Nicolas Cantu (Leonardo), Sharon Brown Jr. (Mikey), Micah Abbey (Donnie), Brady Noon (Raph), Jackie Chan (Splinter), Ayo Edebiri (April), Ice Cube (Superfly), Seth Rogen (Bebop), John Cena (Rocksteady), Paul Rudd (Mondo Gecko), Rose Byrne (Leatherhead), Post Malone (Ray Fillet), Hannibal Buress (Genghis Frog), Natasia Demetriou (Wing Nut), Maya Rudolph (Cynthia Utrom), and Giancarlo Esposito (Baxter Stockman).
