Sega Begins Top Skater Tour
Sega takes Top Skater on the road and looks into doing a home conversion on the Saturn.
We may have our Mortal Kombat 4 Road Tour, but it's nothing compared to Sega's latest Model 2 game tour.
Beginning today, Sega is taking Top Skater on the road in Japan. It runs all month long, and gamers will be able to compete in Top Skater and hopefully get good enough at the game to really shred some asphalt.
At the end of the competition, the players' scores from the month will be compared and the top folks will compete on September 14 for the Stunt Trackers Trophy, which will be awarded to the best Top Skater player in Japan. The competition is being sponsored by Levi's Silvertab jeans.
In an interview on Teleparc Geisen, the game's producer talked about the possibility of a Saturn conversion. He commented that a Saturn port is almost certain, and since it is a Model 2 game, the conversion should be close to the arcade. A Saturn conversion should also have a bunch of extra courses and goodies specific to the Saturn.
And a sequel? Well, that is more of a remote possibility because the first game has not yet been proven to perform in the arcades. Rest assured that AM3 will be looking closely at how the game does, and maybe a sequel will turn up yet.
