See World of Warcraft's Early Days With its First Ever Screenshots

A Blizzard employee released some images of the earliest builds of World of Warcraft.

It's been almost eleven years since the popular MMO World of Warcraft initially launched, but developer Blizzard was working on the game long before that. The game has evolved dramatically over the years, getting multiple fresh coats of paint.

Recruitment marketing manager Dave Wilson today posted several screenshots of the game, including the earliest existing image of it from the late 1990s. It's striking to see just how far World of Warcraft has come since Blizzard began working on it.

Since 2004, World of Warcraft has grown to be the biggest subscription-based MMO in the world, in spite of losing almost three million subscribers since the end of 2014. It's had five expansions and undergone significant changes. Here's a screenshot of what the most recent expansion, Warlords of Draenor, looks like:
