See The Inhumans TV Show's First Teaser Art

Marvel has released the first teaser image for The Inhumans, another television series based on the publisher's popular comic book characters. The picture, which you can see below, was posted on Twitter along with the tagline, "Beyond Humanity."

The image features a glowing symbol hovering above the planet Earth, while a bright light shines behind it. The symbol is commonly associated with Black Bolt, a longtime hero in the Marvel comic universe and leader of the Inhumans.

Although the Inhumans have existed in the comic universe for some time now, they have become more prominent in recent years. Their most recent story arc revolves around the Terrigen Mists, which have appeared on Earth and unlock Inhuman genes in people. This, in turn, has granted them superhuman abilities.

The first season of The Inhumans will be eight episodes and it premieres on ABC in September 2017. It is a co-production with IMAX, and the first two episodes will get a worldwide release in IMAX theaters on September 1.

The show is being overseen by Scott Buck, the showrunner for Netflix's Iron Fist. Hell on Wheels star Anson Mount has been cast as Black Bolt. The character has a hypersonic-voice and is capable of generating devastating waves of force by speaking. As a result, he's rarely shown to be speaking in the comics.

An Inhumans movie was first announced in 2014 but is no longer on Marvel's schedule. Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige has insisted that an Inhumans movie will still happen at some point.

The Inhumans is one of several new Marvel shows in the works, alongisde Runaways and Cloak & Dagger, which are both currently in production. A New Warriors TV show was also recently announced.

Marvel's last major TV series launch, Iron Fist, was not received positively, forcing its lead actor, Finn Jones, to respond to critics.

"These shows are not made for critics, they are first and foremost made for the fans," said Jones. "I also think some of the reviews we saw were seeing the show through a very specific lens, and I think when the fans of the Marvel Netflix world and fans of the comic books view the show through the lens of just wanting to enjoy a superhero show, then they will really enjoy what they see."
