See Some 64-Player Military FPS Action In World War 3's First Gameplay Trailer
Take a closer look at the intense Warzone mode.
Europe's annual gaming expo, Gamescom 2018, is happening this week, and many developers and publishers began teasing new announcements and trailers ahead of the big event. The latest comes from developer The Farm 51, which has shared the first gameplay footage of its upcoming PC-exclusive first-person shooter, World War 3.
The trailer, which you can watch above, provides a look at the large-scale firefights players will be able to jump into in the game's Warzone mode. Despite being taken from a pre-alpha build, the footage still looks impressive, showcasing players engaging in intense shootouts and piloting tanks through the ruins of a war-torn city.
World War 3 is a 64-player military shooter that takes place in a modern setting based on real-world locations such as Berlin and Warsaw. In addition to the aforementioned Warzone, the game also boasts a Recon mode, which tasks small recon squads of players with securing "high-value targets in hostile territory."
The Farm 51 still hasn't announced a firm release date for World War 3 yet, but players will have an opportunity to try out the upcoming FPS soon. The developer will host closed technical tests for the game in the near future. Additional details on those will be provided at a later date. The game will also be on display at both Gamescom and PAX West, giving attendees a chance to go hands-on.
World War 3 launches in Steam Early Access this fall. While the game is currently only slated to arrive for PC, The Farm 51 says it will "seriously consider" also bringing the title to consoles if the PC version does well.
