Sony Pictures has released the first sneak peek at the upcoming Gran Turismo movie from the director of District 9 and starring Orlando Bloom, David Harbour, and Archie Madekwe.

The Gran Turismo movie is based on the true story of Jann Mardenborough, a teenager who loves Gran Turismo so much that he makes a big change in life and becomes a professional racecar driver. Madekwe plays Mardenborough.

The film will have "heart-pounding action," drama, romance, and "bad-ass racecar action." Bloom says the film will also offer up "body-vibrating sound."

Gran Turismo is directed by Neill Blomkamp based on a screenplay by Jason Hall and Zach Baylin. The film arrives exclusively in theaters on August 11.

As for Blomkamp, he broke out with District 9, following it up with Elysium and then Chappie. He is also working on a video game project with Gunzilla.

The Gran Turismo movie is one of numerous projects in the works at PlayStation Productions. This film and TV division already produced the Uncharted movie with Tom Holland and is also behind the movies based on Days Gone and Ghost of Tsushima, as well as the upcoming The Last of Us TV series at HBO and the Twisted Metal show for Peacock, among others.
