See New Concept Art for Star Wars Battlefront Battle of Jakku DLC
The free DLC tied to The Force Awakens arrives in December, before the movie hits theaters.
DICE has shared new concept art for Star Wars: Battlefront's Battle of Jakku DLC, which is set 29 years before the events of J.J. Abrams' upcoming blockbuster, Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens.
More specifically, Battle of Jakku takes place after the Rebel victory in the Battle of Endor. You'll go boots-on-the-ground to play through the events that created the devastated Jakku seen in The Force Awakens.
In this first image, we see a massive Star Destroyer that crashed into the sand. The surviving Imperial ground troops are depicted leaving the ship and battling against Rebel forces.
"There's a David and Goliath theme to this," DICE concept artists Anton Grandert said in a post on the game's website. "The epic, huge super structures of the Star Destroyers contrast against the tiny but brave Rebel soldiers fighting the Imperial forces."
A second image depicts a burning, destroyed X-Wing, with Imperial troops marching and firing against advancing Rebel forces.
"We wanted to portray a battle completely surrounding you, in every direction," Grandert added. "Debris is falling from the sky, telling the story of battles above. On the surface of the planet you can see ground troops as well as X-Wings, all taking part of the fight."
Battlefront's Battle of Jakku DLC launches on December 1 as free Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC DLC for people who preorder the game, while everyone else can pick up the add-on a week later, on December 8. The Force Awakens, meanwhile, hits theaters on December 18 and will take over IMAX screens.
Battle of Jakku comes with two maps set on Jakku, though DICE hasn't said what modes will be supported.
